With the opening of the Community Heart Center, Long Beach Community Medical Center offers the complete spectrum of cardiac care services in one location. The Community Heart Center also provides an advanced level of sophisticated care while maintaining a strong focus on personalized attention and treatment.

State-of-the-Art Facilities and Procedures

Through the Community Heart Center's coronary care unit (CCU), cardiovascular laboratory, and state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization laboratory, a full array of invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and surgical procedures are available. Among theses are angioplasty, coronary arteriography, pacemaker implantation, cardiac surgery, treadmill testing, echocardiography, Holter monitoring, cardiac rehabilitation, and nuclear cardiac studies. Ambulatory telemetry monitoring is also a key part of the Community Heart Center, which allows patients the freedom to move about during diagnosis and convalescence.

Dedicated and Skilled Professionals

The Community Heart Center's team of skilled heart surgeons, cardiologists, radiologists, nuclear medicine experts, and nurses complement the high technology that is integral to Long Beach Community Medical Center's heart treatment services. Their compassion, dedication, and commitment to the fight against heart disease gives patients the peace of mind that comes from knowing they are receiving the best care possible.

Rehabilitation and Support Programs

Long Beach Community Medical Center's cardiac rehabilitation department provides physical rehabilitation programs for myocardial infarction patients or patients diagnosed with coronary artery disease. These programs include exercise monitoring, diet control, and stress-reduction education. Support groups for patients and their families, which can help speed the recovery process also are available through the medical center.

Restful and Therapeutic Environment

Patients with cardiac problems requiring specialized attention, such as those on the road to recovery from coronary artery bypass surgery, thoracic surgery and recent heart attacks, have many needs. While modern medical equipment is essential in offering quality care, equally important is the patient environment. Patient rooms in the Community Heart Center have been decorated with this in mind, and each features a patio and restful park-like setting. Every measure is taken by the Community Heart Center staff members to ensure that all patient and family needs are fully met.
